Artfields: Southeastern Art Competition
Artfields is the most amazing Art Competition in the Southeast. This competition started in Lake City, SC in 2013. Darla Moore's love of gardening and outdoor sculptures had her making a sanctuary on her property. She would invite friends over to see her beautiful manicured gardens and exhibits. Over the years, that morphed into wanting to celebrate art and revitalize her hometown.
The event is a 9 day exhibition, with about 400 works of art on display in many locally-owned venues (restaurants, boutiques, homes and galleries). The fact that Darla Moore was able to get all the townsfolk on one page about this event is astounding, everyone works together to be hospitable to thousands of guest visiting the town.
Not only is the event fun but the coolest part is the competition with possibilities for $100,000 in cash prizes!
This year we had 5 artists from the CSRA (Augusta, GA Area) that were accepted to the exhibition. Even though this year we had no winners from our area, I am so proud of them all and want to recognize them.
